📌 This article answers the following questions:
- How do I create a catering option (breakfast, set menu, packed lunch) in elloha?
- How do I specify whether the meal option is compulsory for the entire stay or can be booked for a specific date?
- How do I set up time slots for a catering option?
- How do I set the price of a catering option based on the number of people?
Why is this important?
Offering catering options is a powerful way to personalise your guests’ stay whilst increasing the profitability of each booking. Whether you offer a simple breakfast or a convivial table d’hôte, these services meet a real need for comfort and convenience for travellers, right from the moment they make their online booking.
The different types of catering options
📌 Good to know: You can also read the article ‘Boost your revenue by creating options for your guests’ to find out the full process for creating an option.
In elloha, the ‘Catering’ option category is divided into several sub-types to fit your organisation perfectly:
1. Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner
These are the most flexible options. They allow for:
A flat rate per meal (e.g. €13 per meal).
A differentiated rate per person (Adult / Child).
To offer children’s prices, you must first enable this option under ‘My Establishment / My Accommodation’, then in the ‘General’ tab. Indicate that you offer children’s rates and specify the age at which these rates apply.
Two possible booking rules: either mandatory for the entire duration of the stay (ideal for half-board packages), or bookable on a flexible basis for one or more days.
2. Table d’hôtes
Perfect for sharing meals, the table d’hôtes offers the same pricing options (per unit or per person).
⚠️ Please note: Unlike standard meals, the table d’hôtes cannot be applied for the entire duration of the stay. It remains an option that the guest is free to choose for the days of their choice.
The ‘Meal Tray’ service does not allow you to set a specific booking time.
To distinguish between lunch and dinner, you have three options:
Specify the time slot directly in the option’s title.
Add the service details in the option description.
Use the specific service types ‘Lunch’ and ‘Dinner’.
💡 Tip: To simplify the organisation of your accommodation, using the “Lunch” and “Dinner” service types allows for an automatic and clearer distinction for your guests when they book.
A flat rate (e.g. €13).
A differentiated rate per person (Adult / Child).
To offer children’s prices, you must first enable this option under ‘My property / My accommodation’, then in the ‘General’ tab. Indicate that you offer children’s rates and specify the age at which these rates apply.
3. Meal tray
Meal trays are often preferred for late arrivals or for privacy.
Pricing: Per item only (no distinction between adults and children).
Sales: Available only as an open booking on days chosen by the guest.
💡 Tip: To make your options even more appealing, don’t forget to add an appetising description and a high-quality photo in the option’s ‘Presentation’ tab.
