📌 This article answers the following questions:

  • How do I enable payment in 3 instalments (Klarna) on elloha?

  • Is Klarna compatible with Stripe?

  • What are Klarna’s transaction fees?

  • How do my customers pay in instalments?

Why is this important?

Payment in instalments has become standard for bookings. By enabling Klarna on your elloha account:

  • You’ll increase your conversion rate: customers are more likely to book longer stays or more expensive services.

  • You secure your cash flow: Klarna pays you the full amount immediately, even if the customer pays in instalments.

  • You simplify administration: Stripe and Klarna automatically manage the payment schedule for you.

Follow the step-by-step guide

Step 1: Access your payment methods

To set up your payment options, follow these steps:

  1. In the side menu on the left-hand side of your screen, click on the Settings tab.

  2. Then select the ‘My Money’ section.

This page displays information about your Stripe account and a list of your available payment methods.

Important: You must have activated your Stripe account before you can activate Klarna.

If you haven’t set up this service yet, you can read our article on activating Stripe.

Step 2: Activate Klarna

To offer this payment method on your booking engine:

  1. Go to your list of payment methods.

  2. Enable Klarna by clicking on the dedicated activation button.

Once activated, Klarna is automatically offered to your customers during the payment stage of their booking.

About transaction fees

Using Klarna incurs specific fees in addition to the usual processing fees, totalling a 7% commission:

  • Stripe commission: approximately 3%.

  • Klarna fees: approximately 4% per transaction.

Step 3: Adjust your payment methods

To enable payment via Klarna, your pricing plans must be configured using one of the following two options:

  • Full prepayment: payment of the full cost of the stay at the time of booking.

  • Partial prepayment: a deposit is paid at the time of booking.

Important: The Postpaid mode (payment on arrival) automatically disables the Klarna option.

If you opt for Partial Prepaid, the instalment payment option will only apply to the deposit amount.

How it works for your customers and your cash flow

When confirming their booking, your customer selects Klarna from the available payment methods. Once the booking is confirmed:

  • Klarna immediately debits an initial payment from the customer.

  • The remainder is collected according to a specific payment schedule sent to the traveller by email.

  • You receive the full amount due immediately, even if your customer is paying in instalments.

💡 Tip: Your customers can pay for their booking in instalments at no extra cost for any amount between €35 and €1,500.

Please note

  • Prerequisite: Stripe must be activated before you can activate Klarna.

  • Permitted payment methods: you must set your pricing plans to ‘Full Prepaid’ or ‘Partial Prepaid’ mode.
